District Governor 2027–20268
------------------------------
Some of my favorite Rotary memories come from working alongside fellow members on local service projects and helping create opportunities for young leaders, including re-establishing the Rotaract Club at Western Connecticut State University.
District Governor Nominee David Freedman
Rotary has given me the chance to serve my neighbors, build lasting friendships, and learn from people across our communities and around the world. As District Governor Nominee, I’m looking forward to visiting clubs throughout District 7980, hearing your ideas, and learning what makes each club special.
I began my Rotary journey in Monroe in 2008, continued it in Farmington, and have been a member of the Rotary Club of Newtown since 2015. In Newtown, I’ve served as club president, treasurer, Foundation chair, and executive secretary. Some of my favorite Rotary memories come from working alongside fellow members on local service projects and helping create opportunities for young leaders, including re-establishing the Rotaract Club at Western Connecticut State University.
At the district level, I’ve served as an Assistant Governor, District Membership Chair, Governor Advisor, and member of the District Conference Committee. I also had the honor of serving as an aide to Rotary International President Stephanie A. Urchick. I’ve attended four Rotary International Conventions and served as the district’s ambassador for the convention in Calgary. Those experiences have shown me how ideas shared across clubs and countries can inspire meaningful work close to home.
The Rotary Foundation is an important part of my journey. I’m a Major Donor Level 1 and a member of the PolioPlus Society. Professionally, I work in human resources and talent acquisition, helping people and organizations grow. In Rotary, I’m especially passionate about welcoming new members, supporting club leaders, and making it easier for people to find their place in service.
Rotary is also a family experience for me. I’m proud to serve alongside my wife of 28 years, Christene, a Past District Governor. We are the first couple in District 7980 to both serve as District Governors. We’re happy to share our Rotary world with our two adult children and our 11-year-old golden retriever, Horizon.
As I prepare for this next chapter, I’d love to hear what’s working in your club, what challenges you’re facing, and what you hope we can accomplish together. I look forward to learning from you and serving alongside you.
